February 19th, 2012 — 10:12pm

I’m loving on all things neon lately. Since I typically don all black, I’m dreaming of these pops of color to spice up my Spring.

classic with an edge

September 25th, 2011 — 11:31pm

Mike and I are leaving for Mexico in a few days to celebrate our anniversary and relax. I’m excited to get some sun, eat, drink, get massaged, play golf and do nothing for a while. Although my pale body will be donning bikinis and caftans for 5 days, I can’t seem to get Fall fashion out of my head. If I could go ape shit with the credit card, these are the things I would buy.

I’ve been dying to introduce some leopard into my life. Leopard is always tricky to me: it can look hookery or great. I happen to think these Brian Atwoods are pretty perfect. They have an edge and a sophistication about them. I’ve also been on the lookout for some nude, loose pants—no idea why but I love these. They’re simple, comfy and cool. And what girl doesn’t need a jacket (or three)? This one, from Rag and Bone, has the perfect amount of zippers without going overboard. I love the texture, length, shape…everything. The Chanel bag is something I’ve been dying to get my paws on. I love that it goes with a dressier outfit like this but can also enhance a tshirt and jeans to make you feel chic even when casual. The ring and bracelet are chunky, polished and complement the rest of the outfit. As for the fragrance—well…I just liked how the bottle looked with the mood board.

I heart Fall!

your twilly here, your twilly there

August 2nd, 2011 — 9:08am

tied on your bag, wrapped on your wrist, banded on your head, knotted around your neck—an Hermés twilly can accessorize you pretty much anywhere. I just got one of these silky, lovelies for my birthday last week (thanks to my bro, Sarah + Betsy) and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been practicing my wrapping and tying techniques, and I can’t wait to sport it around town. It’s funny how a silky scarf can make you feel like a million bucks and a hell of a lot more in style. As soon as I saw that sweet little orange box my heart melted. What girl doesn’t want something Hermés?

Above, you’ll find the bright, happy twilly I received for my bday along with its box/home. I had to include the funny little tutorial illustration from the Hermés site. I had a little fun with it and added another cute twilly I found online. I wanna be walking the streets of Paris with those sketched gals—sipping coffee and smoking cigs.

Anyway, go get yourself a twilly and be silky and happy.

branches + bracelets

I’m loving these colorful bracelets with a native nomad flare. The simple, geometric patterns would look beautiful on any wrist. Lauren Manoogian does it again.

tie-dye chic

April 27th, 2011 — 11:55am

Most tie-dye is psychedelic, loud and crazy. Beklina proves that it CAN in fact be soft, pretty and chic. I need that dress!

the most magical place

April 25th, 2011 — 1:08pm

I just got back from a fantastic long weekend in Tucson with Mike and his parents. Every time I go to Tucson, I get so excited about visiting my favorite shop, Bon.

Bon is a lovely boutique filled with clothing, cards, fanciful chandeliers, Don Carney ink drawings, John Derian poufs and furniture, Matteo bedding, stuff for the kiddies, Barbara Wiggins clutches, crocheted pillows, cool shoes, unique jewelry—pretty much everything unique and wonderful you’d ever want from a boutique.

Bon has two locations, and of course, I visited both. I only got pictures of the smaller shop (damn it) but you’ll get the idea. The larger shop, on Broadway, is even more fantastic with more space and more goodies. The shops are owned by Bonnie and Crystal Flynt—a mother/daughter team. I was so glad I got a chance to chat with Bonnie while perusing the Broadway store. She is one of the most inspirational women I have met in a while. She’s super stylish, natural, down to earth and cool as can be. I can’t imagine a more ideal existence—owning a fabulous store and traveling to fun cities on buying trips with her daughter—talk about a dream job. I still have yet to meet her daughter, Crystal but I’m sure she’s just as fabulous as her mom. I did find out she used to work for Anthropologie Corporate—no wonder she has such a good eye for style.

If you ever get down to Tucson, give this shop a visit. You’re sure to walk out with something one-of-a-kind. This time, I left with a cute brass horse head hook for our guest bathroom, a Patch NYC crocheted pillow (pics to come), a sweet little tshirt and a Barbara Wiggins black clutch. I did some damage, and Mike’s mom was nice enough to treat me to a few items. I’m sure I’ll be calling the shop soon for some bedding or maybe a Don Carney ink drawing if I’m lucky.

Enjoy the pictures. xo

and that killer cacti

April 18th, 2011 — 11:27am

The title of this post reminds me not only of the desert, but of one of my fave Nickelodeon shows growing up—Hey Dude. “…and that killer cacti” was the ending of the theme song. Remember Buddy and Mr. Ernst? ha

Anyway, I’m headed to the Tucson desert this Thursday to visit Mike’s parents for some much needed sun, relaxation and get-away-from-work time. It’s supposed to be 90 degrees—perfect weather for one of these desert-inspired outfits. I love the muted color palette, the feathery + stone jewelry and the leathery rough, yet refined sandals that remind me of the desert. I’m also obsessed with the galactic themed dresses and tops that are popping up this season. Tucson is a perfect place to watch the stars at night so that means I need that dress, right?

On a side note: It feels so good to be blogging again! I apologize for being a naughty blogger these past couple of weeks. Work has been insanely busy and rather than slap up daily blogs just to have a blog up, I’ve been trying to tell myself quality over quantity. I’ve decided that “daily updates” is a goal. I will do my best to update daily but if I’m working a 14 hour day or crazy busy and tired, it may not happen. Blogging is supposed to be my fun escape, and I never wanna feel stressed about having to post. I hope things slow down a bit so I can get back in the groove.

Happy Monday!
