May 2nd, 2011 — 9:15pm

Mother’s Day is this Sunday! It crept up so fast that I almost forgot. eeep! I still need to get Ellen the perfect gift. While perusing the internets for her, I thought I would put together some fun mom ideas for all of you. I got on a little green and yellow kick and well, here are some cheery options for all yo mamas. The polka dot envelope bag is kinda ridic for a mom’s day gift but it was so perfect for the board that I couldn’t resist.

Give your mama a hug and a kiss—moms are the best!

The mom items from L to R, top to bottom: Airplants and Moss from Jayson Home, Marni Polka Dot Leather Wallet from Netaporter, Futura Small Bowl from Jonathan Adler, Lido Espadrilles from Kate Spade, Mom Card from Dear Hancock, Green Opal Pitcher from Sweet and Saucy Supply, Signature Spade Studs from Kate Spade

the most magical place

April 25th, 2011 — 1:08pm

I just got back from a fantastic long weekend in Tucson with Mike and his parents. Every time I go to Tucson, I get so excited about visiting my favorite shop, Bon.

Bon is a lovely boutique filled with clothing, cards, fanciful chandeliers, Don Carney ink drawings, John Derian poufs and furniture, Matteo bedding, stuff for the kiddies, Barbara Wiggins clutches, crocheted pillows, cool shoes, unique jewelry—pretty much everything unique and wonderful you’d ever want from a boutique.

Bon has two locations, and of course, I visited both. I only got pictures of the smaller shop (damn it) but you’ll get the idea. The larger shop, on Broadway, is even more fantastic with more space and more goodies. The shops are owned by Bonnie and Crystal Flynt—a mother/daughter team. I was so glad I got a chance to chat with Bonnie while perusing the Broadway store. She is one of the most inspirational women I have met in a while. She’s super stylish, natural, down to earth and cool as can be. I can’t imagine a more ideal existence—owning a fabulous store and traveling to fun cities on buying trips with her daughter—talk about a dream job. I still have yet to meet her daughter, Crystal but I’m sure she’s just as fabulous as her mom. I did find out she used to work for Anthropologie Corporate—no wonder she has such a good eye for style.

If you ever get down to Tucson, give this shop a visit. You’re sure to walk out with something one-of-a-kind. This time, I left with a cute brass horse head hook for our guest bathroom, a Patch NYC crocheted pillow (pics to come), a sweet little tshirt and a Barbara Wiggins black clutch. I did some damage, and Mike’s mom was nice enough to treat me to a few items. I’m sure I’ll be calling the shop soon for some bedding or maybe a Don Carney ink drawing if I’m lucky.

Enjoy the pictures. xo

easter-eggy

April 4th, 2011 — 1:27pm

Attention: a quick side note that has nothing to do with easter eggs: My blog is getting a little facelift for the day so I apologize in advance for the design inconsistencies and flaws. I’m hoping to finish it all up tonight. Thank you. Now back to the Easter post….

April is here and that means the Easter bunny will soon be filling baskets with candy and colorful goodies. I still get an Easter basket after all these years thanks to my mom! A basket doesn’t have to be filled with plastic grass and milk chocolate bunnies that no one eats. Here are a few fun Easter gift ideas that the bunny probably wouldn’t think of (sorry bunny). Who wouldn’t want a bouquet of flowers from a bearded man?

(ONE: Feather-Shaped Trays from Jayson Home, TWO: Wooden Eggs from Olive Manna, THREE: Vintage Brass Bunny from Etsy, FOUR: Burly Man With Flowers from Dear Hancock, FIVE: Tina Pocket from DWR)

I’m loving these quiet, ethereal images from interior + food photographer, Ngoc Minh Ngo. Their soft, innocent beauty reminds me that Spring is on its way.

green thumb

March 4th, 2011 — 5:09pm

I’m feeling super nature-y today. I’m antsy to get winter over with so I can ride my bike outside, walk to the farmers market down the street and bask in the warm sun. These fun little garden items are getting me even more excited; that flower box would be perfect on our balcony.

happy friday + happy gardening! ♥ Q

(the garden goodies: ONE: Duplex Birdhouse from Anthropologie, TWO: Jade Pebbles from Terrain, THREE: Garden Tools from Alice Supply Co., FOUR: Vintage Watering Can With Mushrooms from Babylon Sisters, FIVE: Early Edibles from Jayson Home and Garden)
