modular whimsy
I’m obsessed with the clean and simple design of this lovely Minneapolis home from Hive Modular. Who knew a modular home could be so neato? It’s like playing with sophisticated legos. I want one.

I’m always so excited when a new restaurant opens in Minneapolis. It gives Mike and I an excuse to eat out and have a date night. Tilia is a cute little restaurant that recently opened in the heart of Linden Hills. I have yet to dine here but I’m hoping to do so very soon. What I love most about Tilia: their menu design is just as delicious as their food choices. I’m obsessed with how cute and clever the kids menu is. I can’t wait to sit in the cozy, NY bistro-inspired atmosphere and order some good food and a glass of bubbles.
If anyone knows who designed this stuff, I would love to know! I’ve tried searching without luck.
happy friday + happy eats!

I just got my hair did last night at my new favorite place, Haus Salon. Charlie Brackney, the former Creative Director of Aveda’s Juut Salon Spa, just opened this beautiful space back in January. I cheated on Juut and left with Charlie and I’m so glad I did.
Haus is fantastic. It’s located in a cute, spunky part of South Minneapolis and the spare, yet warm space is both stylish and inviting. The custom, chunky, crystal chandeliers act as the glamorous statement piece while everything else feels soft modern. You can sip on some beverages, eat a truffle from a local bakery or just sit back and relax. I felt so special sitting in the sleek chair while Charlie perused through his ipad to find inspiration photos and explain his vision. He’s so fun to talk to and so talented, not to mention cute. I love my new hair and I’m now addicted to the Davines product line. The products work great and look simply beautiful on any counter.
If you’re in Minneapolis, check out Haus. Your hair will thank you.

Flowers are such a huge part of Valentine’s Day yet there are so many typical, bad arrangements out there. This darling arrangement from the cute ladies of Bastian+Skoog Minneapolis caught my eye. This year, they’re doing hand knit little cozies around the base of their Valentine’s Day arrangements. And of course, no detail is overlooked. The tags, which most florists impersonally type out in a gross font, are even perfectly styled and hand-lettered by local Minneapolis calligrapher, Emily J. Snyder of Queen Quills. This perfect Valentine’s Day touch can be done with a variety of flowers but the tulips are pretty darn cute.
And just in case you have a special event, wedding or just need some pretty flowers to look at, Bastian+Skoog does it all. I’ve included a style board of some of my favorites from their website. Visit them and check out more. My friend, Carla, just got some gorgeous birthday flowers delivered to the office and I couldn’t stop drooling over them.
enjoy!
I’m not sure how the ice cream tastes but this packaging is lovely! It makes me want to buy a soda and a fatty cone just so I can walk around holding them. I’m a little late posting this since it’s been on Die Line and in Communication Arts for weeks but I had to share.
The talented designers at Wink Minneapolis created this fantastic explosion of color and type for Honey & Mackey’s Ice Cream—an ice cream shop for kids that’s catered to parents. I love the name of the place, too. I wonder if the ice cream is as delicious as the packaging makes it look?
There’s nothing worse than scrubbing a toilet or a tub, especially when the products you’re using are ugly and make you feel like you lost some brain cells.
J.R. Watkins is just the opposite of those nasty, brightly colored, chemical cleaners. Watkins cleaning products are all natural, beautifully designed and fun to use. I never thought I would describe toilets as fun but at least you can carry around a hot little accessory like one of these bottles while doing the dirty work.
J.R. Watkins is based in Winona, MN (yay for the ‘sota!) and has been doing it natural since 1868. I found these at Target so hopefully it’ll be easy for you to get your hands on. I added a few other nifty cleaning tools to this post for fun!
Check out Black Retail (another great MPLS company) the design geniuses behind this pretty packaging and more.
happy scrubbing. xoxo
